It is a fact that humanity is constantly growing while our food resources are becoming increasingly scarce. At the same time, a large proportion of our food is wasted or is dumped early. It is also a fact that our mountain of rubbish is constantly growing, as we are constantly producing new things with equally valuable resources and often throwing them away after only one use.
The project aims to achieve a double positive effect by linking these aspects. The meat industry, of all industries, can provide help, as currently about 35% of the components resulting from slaughtering are still destroyed.
The focus is on the large quantities of bones, which were once used for many practical purposes in numerous sectors and which could now, with modern processing techniques, help to replace other, harmful materials to a great extent. Bone mixtures have been developed for this purpose, which have different properties depending on the mixing ratio. They are 100% ecologically degradable and are also mineral carriers.
