Storage container historically are known as simple iron or ceramic containers that were treated carelessly and eventually discarded. However, we now perceive those simple storage containers as items of handcrafted quality due to their pure design and materiality. This shift in perspective takes place over time as at some point worthless items become valuable again. In today’s world, cheap plastic packaging often from the supermarket, can also be reimagined in this way. The “zuMessen” project combines the idea of the old storage container and cheap plastics to create a new form of quality. The result is a product that has been developed by creating a ceramic vessel and utilizing recycled plastics into a lid with intuitive measurement. “zuMessen” is a merger of luxury and economy, past and present and aesthetics and everyday life.
